Alright I just wanted to send out a few quick notes about the ceremony Friday. Firstly, my tentative itinerary: -At 7:30 AM I will be checking in at Lockridge Arena (in the Student Recreation Center, #57 in the attached map.) I expect this will take some time, but around 8:00 AM I should be available to meet with you guys, take photos, etc. I’ll be communicating with my parents about exactly where I will be and if anything changes. It should also be noted that 7:30 AM is the time at which Kafadar Commons opens up to ticketed guests. -At 8:30 AM I will have to line up with the rest of the Graduates. -At 9:30 AM the procession will begin. We will come from Lockridge Arena, down 16th street (I think) to Kafadar. This is a good photo opportunity. -The ceremony will then take 2-3 hours. Afterwards I’ll work my way to the parents reception in the pedestrian plaza (where 16th and Maple would meet.) There are also some other student receptions occurring elsewhere on campus that I plan to stop by (time permitting.) -Lunch will be at the Bridgewater Grill at 1:30 PM. -After lunch that should be it. There are a couple of graduation parties I’ll be stopping by. Other Notes: -This ceremony will occur rain or shine. Right now the forecast is looking rainy so do dress accordingly. -I only have five tickets to Kafadar Commons. The first three will be going to my mom, sister, and dad. I figured the best way to distribute the other two is to give one to my dad and one to my mom to give to another on the Healy side and Christensen side respectively. -Guests will not be allowed to save seats. So only sit down in Kafadar once you’re sure you’re ready to stay for the duration of the ceremony. Ushers will remove items used to save seats. Do not block the aisles. -Security is requesting that guests do not bring large bags, backpacks, etc. (after Boston) -If ticketed guests do not wish to sit out in the rain they are welcome to view the ceremony live from within Green Center (see map.) In Green Center, Bunker Auditorium will act as a general viewing room, while Petroleum Hall will be a “family” viewing room. Again, access to Green Center is for ticketed guests only. -Un-ticketed guests will be able to view the ceremony in Stratton Commons immediately adjacent to Kafadar. There will be a large viewing screen set up and a mix of seating and standing room. Seating here is first-come-first-serve. They haven’t said anything against bringing your own chairs to set up here, so I would assume it’d be ok, but just in case they’d object, I’d suggest claiming your seat early. -Parking is free the day of graduation. The attached map shows all the available lots. Handicap spots throughout campus are also noted on this map, with a larger special needs lot marked just east of Green Center. Please note that many residential portions of Golden do have a separate “City of Golden” parking permit system which WILL be in effect the day of graduation. -I will be relaying any important logistical information the day of graduation to my dad. So if you need to meet up with the rest of the family or if you find yourself lost on campus, contact him: (720) 308-8512. I would suggest that a good place for everyone to meet up would be the 15th street dead-end just east of Kafadar/Stratton Commons. I suggest printing the attached map and bringing it with you the day of graduation. If you have any further questions, just let me know.
